AKSIA Healthcare is pleased to announce the signing of an exclusive agency agreement with
MicroAire Surgical Instruments (USA) for the distribution of the SmartRelease® ECTR system across all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
This strategic collaboration further strengthens AKSIA’s growing portfolio of advanced surgical technologies and reinforces its long-standing commitment to delivering evidence-based, minimally invasive orthopedic solutions
that enhance surgeon experience and improve patient outcomes across the region.
About SmartRelease® ECTR
SmartRelease® ECTR is a single-portal endoscopic carpal tunnel release system designed to enable precise transection of the transverse carpal ligament
through a minimally invasive approach. The system is engineered to provide
surgeons with enhanced control and visualization through its pistol-grip handpiece, low-profile disposable blade assembly, and integrated endoscopic guidance. .
MicroAire Surgical Instruments LLC
The SmartRelease® platform is primarily indicated for the surgical treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.
Depending on surgeon technique and clinical judgment, the device family may also be used in select soft-tissue release procedures, including cubital tunnel, trigger finger, and plantar fascia release.
Clinical experience with endoscopic carpal tunnel release techniques has demonstrated benefits that may include smaller incisions,
reduced post-operative pain, minimal scarring, and faster return to daily activities when compared with traditional open surgical approaches in many patient populations.

Commercial Timeline and Regional Rollout
The commercial launch of SmartRelease® ECTR is planned for 2026, following a structured, cross-functional rollout strategy across GCC markets. Preparatory activities will focus on regulatory approvals, clinical readiness, and stakeholder engagement to ensure a compliant and successful market introduction.
AKSIA will coordinate registration and compliance activities in accordance with each GCC country’s regulatory framework, utilizing MicroAire’s established product documentation and regulatory history to support local submissions and hospital credentialing processes.
